In TMJ, this joint gets misaligned and can result in frequent headache, pain in the neck, face or shoulder, popping in the jaw etc. Causes associated with TMJ include genetic reason, injuries, cradling, orthodontia etc. Stress can be one of the major reasons related to TMJ.

It can cause immense discomfort to the patients. It is considered to be difficult to diagnose. Symptoms associated with TMJ include pain in the neck, face and jaw, stiffness in the jaw muscles etc. Home remedies can be used for treating the symptoms associated with TMJ.

Massage And Pain Relievers

Massage can be beneficial for the treatment of TMJ. Massaging can help in reducing the pain that results from muscle spasms. Jaw joints that lie in front of the ears can be massaged for getting relief from the symptoms of TMJ.

Pain relievers are helpful for the patients suffering from TMJ. These pain relievers include ibuprofen, aspirin and acetaminophen etc. This remedy helps in providing relief from the pain as well as inflammation caused due to TMJ.


Take Rest

Taking rest would help the patients suffering from TMJ. It would provide relief from stress which is considered to be one of the symptoms associated with TMJ.

Deep breathing exercises, meditation and yoga are some of the relaxation techniques helpful for the patients of TMJ. Exercising on a regular basis would also provide relaxation. Visualisation exercises are effective in reducing stress related symptoms.


Minerals

Minerals are beneficial in the treatment of TMJ. These minerals include calcium, magnesium etc. The minerals can be taken in the form of supplements or can be added in the juices. The minerals can be used in the form of powder or capsules. Take five hundred milligrams of powdered form of calcium and mix them with two hundred fifty milligrams of magnesium in powdered form.

These minerals can be added to the orange juice that can be consumed during the morning time. This remedy helps in relaxing the muscles and reducing the tension associated with TMJ.


Hot And Cold Treatments

Heating the affected muscles would provide a relaxing effect on the muscles. Application of heating pad over the affected area would help in providing relief from aching muscles. It can be used to treat the affected shoulder, jaw and neck. The heat should be kept low enough that the muscles can sustain it. It would prevent burning in the sensitive areas of skin.

Cold treatment to the affected area would be beneficial. Application of ice packs over the affected jaws would reduce the pain associated with TMJ. This remedy is helpful in reducing the tightness of muscles.

Application of hot and cold treatments alternatively would help in reducing the symptoms of TMJ. Apply heat over the affected area for around twenty minutes and afterwards, apply cold treatment for around five to ten minutes. This method would be beneficial in treating TMJ.


Kava, Glucosamine Sulphate And MSM

Kava is effective in treating the symptoms associated with TMJ. It is a medicinal herb helpful for fighting against inflammation associated with TMJ. This herb has anti-anxiety properties useful for the patients.

Pineapple, Valerian And Vitamin B-Complex

Pineapple is beneficial in the treatment of TMJ. Consumption of fresh pineapple in the diet would be helpful for the patients. It contains an enzyme called bromelain which helps in reducing inflammation associated with TMJ.

Valerian is a medicinal herb helpful for the treatment of TMJ. This remedy helps in fighting against stress and tight muscles.

Taking vitamin B-complex would help the patients suffering from TMJ. It would provide relief from the stress caused due to TMJ. Deficiency of vitamin B complex is considered to be one of the reasons of stress resulting in TMJ. It can be taken in the form of capsules. Consumption of these capsules for around fifteen days would be helpful.
