Heat rash results from overheating. It is commonly called as prickly heat and usually occurs during summer. Red spots appear on the body when the skin gets punctured. It can occur at any parts of the body viz. chest, face, thigh, back and neck. Prickly heat rash is of three types; miliaria rubra, miliaria crystalline and miliaria profunda affecting middle skin layer, upper crust and inside skin layer.
Blockage of pores that stuck the skin is one of the main causes behind heat rash. It thus prevents the body from sweating. Symptoms of prickly heat rash include itchiness, inflammation, itchiness and irritation. In this medical condition, reddish bumps appear on the skin.
Lime juice is useful in the treatment of heat rash. Consumption of lime juice in excessive amount is recommended. Taking three to four glasses of lime juice on a daily basis is beneficial. It is one of the effective remedies for treating heat rash and has been found to provide relief within one fortnight itself.
Cold water is helpful for the patients suffering from heat rash. Take a cotton cloth and soak it in cold water. Place this cloth over the affected area until water gets absorbed. Continue using this remedy two to three times per day is recommended. This natural remedy is helpful in providing quick relief from inflammation caused due to prickly heat.
Oat meal is useful in treating heat rash. It has been found to be one of the effective natural remedies for patients of prickly heat rash. Take some oat meal and add it in bath water. Stir the water well and lie in the bath tub for around fifteen minutes. This natural cure helps in soothing the infected skin. Continue using this remedy two times per day.
Cornstarch is beneficial for the patients of heat rash. Take cornstarch or flour and mix it in water. Mix the solution well to make a paste. Application of this paste over the affected areas would be beneficial. Leave as such for around one and a half hour and let the affected area dry. Wash the affected area and take a bath with cold water afterwards.
Margosa is useful for the treatment of heat rash. Leaves of margosa have been found to have beneficial properties helpful for curing heat rash. Take leaves of margosa and add them in water to prepare a paste.
Apply this paste over the affected parts and leave as such for a while until it gets completely dried. It has anti-bacterial properties that are useful in killing the germs that cause infection as well as providing relief from other skin diseases.
Baking soda is one of the natural methods for the treatment of heat rash. A cold compress can be prepared using baking soda that helps in reducing itchiness and symptoms of prickly heat rash. Take one tablespoon of baking soda and dilute it in one cup of cold water. Take a clean cloth and soak it in this solution.
Squeeze the cloth to remove excess amount of solution. Application of this cloth over the rashes is recommended. Baking soda helps in reducing irritation and itchiness while water reduces inflammation. Continue using this remedy four to five times on a daily basis.
Aloe vera is beneficial for the patients suffering from heat rash. It can be used in the form of gel. One can use the aloe vera plant at home. Gel prepared from leaves of aloe vera can be applied over the affected areas. Leave this as such for some time and take a bath using cold water afterwards.
Pulp of aloe vera plant is also beneficial for heat rash patients. Rub the pulp over the face and leave as such for about twenty minutes. Continue using this natural remedy for treating heat rash.
Multani mitti is also known as fuller’s earth and is one of the natural cures for the treatment of heat rash. Take four to five tablespoons of multani mitti and mix in two to three tablespoons of rose water along with plain water.
Mix the ingredients well and prepare a paste. Application of this paste on the affected area would be beneficial. Leave the pack as such for drying for about two to three hours. Washing the affected area with cold water afterwards is recommended.
Bark of banyan tree is beneficial for the patients suffering from prickly heat rash. Take barks of banyan tree in dried form and grind them to make a powder. Application of this powdered form of banyan tree bark over the affected areas is recommended.
Sandalwood is useful for the treatment of heat rash. Powdered form of sandalwood has been found to be beneficial. Take two tablespoons of sandalwood powder and mix them in two tablespoons of powdered form of coriander. In this mixture, add two to three tablespoons of rose water.
Mix all the ingredients and stir it well. Prepare a paste by properly mixing them. Application of this paste on the affected areas is recommended. Leave as such for a while for drying. Wash the affected areas using cold water.
Gram flour is useful in the treatment of heat rash. It is commonly called as besin. This natural remedy has been found to be beneficial for reducing inflammation caused due to heat rash. Take gram flour and mix water in it to prepare a paste.
Application of this paste over the affected area is recommended. Leave the paste to let the affected area dry. This remedy helps in reducing inflammation and removing the dead cells of skin as well.
Wearing cotton clothes is beneficial for the patients suffering from overheating. One should wear clothes made from cotton and moisture wicking fabrics.
Ice is helpful for treating heat rash. This natural cure has been found to have beneficial effects that reduce the heat rash caused due to humid and hot temperature. Rubbing ice cubes over the affected areas is recommended. This natural method helps in reducing prickly sensations and inflammation caused due to heat rash.
