Kidney stones are the crystal aggregations of dissolved minerals in the urine.

These are also called as renal calculi. These are formed inside the kidneys and the bladder. These stones vary in size and are passed through the urine stream.

Stones that are larger in size (at least two to three millilitres) can cause obstruction in the ureter. Nausea, bloating and vomiting are some of the symptoms that are associated with kidney stones. There are three types of kidney stones viz. struvite stones, uric acid stones and cystine stones.

Women who are suffering from the problem of high blood pressure, digestive problems and deficiency of magnesium are more likely to affect with the disease. Though the crystal stones that are formed inside the kidney are required to be removed surgically, there are other natural treatments that help in dissolving them.

Drink Water

Drinking plenty of water is good for the patients of kidney stones. It has a number of benefits. Drinking eight full glasses of water on a daily basis is recommended. Water is used in diluting the stones that are made up of salts and minerals. It helps in passing the stones in the urinary tract and preventing the formation of its occurrence in the future.

Drinking mineral water is beneficial for health. It reduces the concentrations of calcium and uric acid. It helps in reducing the alkaline nature of urine and reduces the risk of kidney stones.


Apple Cider Vinegar

Consuming one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar on every day is helpful for reducing the pain associated with kidney stones. It is beneficial in softening and dissolving the kidney stones and helps them to pass.


Dandelion

Root of dandelion herb is helpful in reducing the symptoms associated with kidney stones. Organic form of this herb is helpful in cleansing the urinary tract and reducing the pain associated to kidney stones. Consuming at least five hundred milligrams of this herb for two times in a day is recommended.


Basil

Basil leaves are useful in strengthening the kidneys. Combining honey with basil is beneficial for the patients of kidney stones. Swallow a mixture prepared from one tablespoon of basil and one tablespoon of honey.

This mixture is helpful in making it pass through the urinary tract and minimizing the risk of kidney stones. It can be consumed for one or two times per day. Taking this for a period of six months is beneficial.


Celery

Eating celery is helpful in preventing the formation of kidney stones. Celery seeds are helpful in the elimination of toxic materials and water from kidneys. Make a mixture of two cups of water and two tablespoons of celery seeds.

Boil the mixture and soak for few minutes. Drinking half cup of this drink for every sixty minutes is beneficial. Pregnant women should avoid consuming it. Celery seeds can also be used in the form of spice.


Lemon Juice

Drinking half cup of pure lemon juice on a daily basis is beneficial for the patients suffering from kidney stones. It is effective in protecting the body against calcium stores as storage of calcium leads to the formation of calcium stones.

Another remedy is to blend lemon juice extract with olive oil. Drink at least twelve glasses of water after drinking this mixture. Afterwards, add 0.5 ounces of lemon juice in twelve ounces of water. Add one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar in it and drink it.


Uva Ursi

Uva ursi is helpful in fighting against the infections caused by kidney stones. It helps in reducing the pain and cleansing the urinary tract. Consuming five hundred milligrams of uva ursi for at least two times per day is recommended.


Horsetail

Tea prepared from horsetail is useful for the patients suffering from kidney stones. Drinking up to four cups of this herbal tea on a daily basis is recommended. It is equivalent to taking two grams of thyme in the form of pills per day. Horsetail is also available in the form of capsules. Consuming two grams of this herb in the form of capsule on a daily basis is recommended.


Drink Beverages

Drinking coffee or tea is beneficial. Regularly drinking one cup of coffee on a daily basis is helpful in reducing the risk of kidney stones. Consuming wine or beer on a daily basis is also helpful in reducing the risk of kidney stones.


Avoid Juices

Patients suffering from kidney stones should not consume juices. Taking one cup of apple juice on a daily basis would increase the risk of kidney stones by 75 percent. Consuming one glass of orange juice or grapefruit juice every day is also beneficial in reducing the risk of kidney stones by 85 percent.


Olive Oil

Make a combination of one fourth cup of extra virgin olive oil with one fourth cup of lemon juice. Drinking this mixture for every three hours is helpful in passing out the stones from the body. Lemon juice can be combined with olive oil that helps in breaking down the deposits of kidney stones.


Watermelon & Tomato Juice

Tea prepared from watermelon is helpful for the patients suffering from kidney stones. It contains large amount of water and is helpful in dissolving them. It acts as diuretics and is rich in high amount of potassium salts. Consuming large amount of watermelon throughout the day is beneficial.

Take one glass of tomato juice and add a pinch of salt and pepper in it. Consuming this drink in the morning time is beneficial for the patients suffering from kidney stones.


Radishes & Figs

One cup of radish leaves can be used as salads and can be consumed for two times in a day. This is a natural way for the treatment of kidney stones. Figs are also useful for treating kidney stones. Take two figs in one cup of water and boil. Drinking it on an empty stomach in the morning time is beneficial.
