Menopause is a condition in which menstruation gets stopped. Due to menopause, ovulation gets ceased. Menopause occurs among the women in their old ages.

It is a phase in their lives rather than a disease. Symptoms of menopause include insomnia, headache, hot flush, night sweat, joint ache, palpitation and vaginal dryness.Other symptoms also include depression, irritability, fatigue, racing heart etc. It usually occurs at the age of 51 years.

If it occurs before the age of 45, it is called early menopause while it is called post menopause if it occurs before the age of 40.

As aging occurs, production of estrogen and testosterone get decreased causing a number of physical changes that are referred to as natural menopause. This condition is divided into three categories viz. premenopause, menopause and postmenopause.


Top Natural Cures for Menopause

Drink Water

Water is beneficial for the patients suffering from menopause. Drinking eight glasses of water is recommended. One should use steam-distilled water rather than the normal one. It helps in reducing hot flush which is one of the symptoms associated with menopause.


Primrose Oil

Primrose oil is useful for the treatment of menopause. Consuming eight hundred milligrams of evening primrose oil is recommended. Using this remedy three times per day is beneficial.

Fifteen hundred to three thousand milligrams of primrose oil is helpful for treating breast pain in perimenopause. Primrose oil contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) which is an essential fatty acid that is helpful in influencing the synthesis of prostaglandin.


Tincture Blend

Root of licorice is effective in treating menopause. It is available in the form of tincture. Take one teaspoon of this tincture and add two teaspoons of tincture of cohosh root, one teaspoon of tincture form of chest tree and one teaspoon of tincture form of don quai root in it.

Also add one teaspoon of tincture form of sarsaparilla herb and one teaspoon of tincture form of ginseng root in the previous mixture. Properly mix all the ingredients and consume three teaspoons of this mixture on a daily basis. This remedy is effective in the treatment of menopause.


Toner

Toner can be prepared using the natural herbs and is helpful for improving the skin. It helps in soothing and nourishing the skin. This toner can also be used as aftershave by men. To prepare this toner, add two ounces of aloe vera gel and two ounces of orange blossom water.

In this mixture, add one tablespoon of wine vinegar, 800 UI of vitamin E oil, one drop of chamomile oil, four drops of sandalwood oil and six drops of rose geranium oil.


Selenium

Add fifty milligrams of selenium two thousand milligrams of vitamin C. Ten milligrams of beta-carotene can be added in the previous mixture. Using this remedy once a day is beneficial. It is helpful for improving the skin and treating the vaginal dryness.


Almond Oil

Take one ounce of almond oil and add two drops of geranium oil. Add 1000 UI of vitamin E in the mixture. Properly mix all these ingredients and apply this mixture inside and outside the vagina two times per day. This remedy is useful for the treatment of menopause.


Black Cohosh

Black cohosh is helpful for the treatment of menopause. Consuming one to two caps of forty milligrams of the herb two times per day is recommended. It is beneficial for reducing night sweats and hot flashes which are the symptoms related to menopause.


Exercise

Exercise is an effective remedy for the treatment of menopause. Weight gain is one of the causes of menopause among the women and hence exercise helps in reducing the same. It is very beneficial for the patients as it provides energy and helps in fighting against menopausal fatigue. Doing exercise on a daily basis is recommended.

It is helpful in reducing mental and physical pain. It is useful in producing the chemicals in the brain which are called endorphins. Exercise is helpful in the treatment of mood swings. Doing moderate exercise is also useful in reducing the menopausal irritability. Exercise is beneficial in reducing depression and anxiousness.


Soy

Involving soy in the diet is beneficial for the patients suffering from menopause. It contains phyto estrogens that have beneficial properties. Do not exceed the recommended amount as eating too much soy would not be helpful for providing relief from menopause for a longer period of time.


Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol

Avoid over consumption of caffeine as it may worsen the condition of patients suffering from menopause. Caffeinated beverages should not be consumed by the patients. Caffeine increases the stress among the patients and causes irritation. Consuming too much caffeine can trigger hot flashes.

One should switch to decaf rather than taking caffeine. Alcohol is not beneficial for the patients suffering from menopause. It has sedative properties and should be avoided.


Milk

Consuming milk is beneficial for the treatment of menopause. Consuming one glass of warm milk would be effective. Milk can also be consumed by adding it in the herbal tea. It contains an amino acid named tryptophan which acts as a natural sedative and is helpful for the patients suffering from menopause.


Vitamin E

Vitamin E is beneficial for the patients suffering from menopause. Consuming 400 IUs of vitamin E on a daily basis is recommended. It is helpful in reducing hot flash which is one of the symptoms associated with menopause.


Flaxseed Oil

Grind flaxseed in a grinder and consume one to two teaspoons from this mixture on a daily basis. Flaxseed contains lignin which is the substance that acts as a modulator in the metabolism of hormones.


Calcium

Consuming twelve hundred to fifteen hundred milligrams of calcium on a daily basis is recommended to the women who are above the age of 50. Calcium fortified orange juice, milk, yogurt, cereals and collard greens are some of the sources of calcium.


Vitamin D

Consuming 400 IUs of vitamin D on a daily basis is beneficial for the patients until the age of 70. Eggs, milk, cereal, salmon and fish oil are some of the sources of vitamin D. Exposure to sunlight is the best method of taking vitamin D. Exposing the skin for fifteen minutes per day is recommended.
