Medicinal herbs can help in reducing the symptoms and preventing emphysema. These natural herbs are effective as well as cheap. Top Herbal Remedies for Emphysema

Horsetail

The herb contains an active compound that helps in preventing emphysema. It can be consumed in the form of supplements that help in repairing the damaged tissues of lungs. Consume this herb as ten to twenty drops in the form of tincture. Prepare this tincture by diluting it in water. It can be used in combination with other herbs.


Castor Oil

Castor oil can be applied over the back and chest. It should not be taken internally as it can be toxic and should only be used for topical medication. Massaging castor oil helps in ease breathing and reducing stress.


Lobelia

It is also helpful in thinning the mucus and is found to be effective in treating emphysema. Four to eighteen drops of lobelia in the form of liquid extract can be consumed for three times in a day. The herb is useful in decreasing congestion and developing scar tissue in the lungs.

Ten to fifteen drops of lobelia in the form of tincture can be taken for two to three times in a day while infusion prepared from this herb can be consumed as half cup for two to three times in a day.


Mullein

Mullein in the form of tincture for treating emphysema. This tincture can be combined with monrada tincture. Add honey for sweetening it. Consume the herb as one tablespoon for three to four times in a day before sleep.

It contains mucilage that helps in the treatment of cold and flu. Tea prepared from emphysema is also beneficial. The herb can also be combined with other herbs like licorice, red pepper etc.


Butterbur

The herb can be consumed in the form of tincture by mixing it in a glass of water. It can be taken on daily basis for eight days. Consuming this tincture for seven to eight days can reduce the symptoms of emphysema.

It is available in the form of liquid extract and capsule. Butterbur helps in reducing mucus and treating asthma. Pregnant women should not consume this herb.


Yerba Santa

Tea prepared from this herb is useful in treating the symptoms of emphysema. Consuming this tea for two to three times in a day is beneficial.


Myrtle Oil

It is one of the most effective herbal remedies for treating emphysema. Consume it in the form of gelatin capsules that are easily absorbed by the intestines.


Aniseed

Ten drops of aniseed oil can be mixed with one teaspoon brown sugar. This mixture is beneficial in the treatment of emphysema.


Garlic

Garlic is a useful herb for the treatment of emphysema. Chew two to three cloves of garlic on daily basis in the morning time for effective use. Garlic can also be consumed in the form of juice.


Ivy Leaf

Consuming leaves of ivy in the form of extract or powder is effective in the treatment of emphysema. It helps in breaking down the mucus that blocks the airways. Consume ivy leaf powder in dried form on daily basis.


Wheatgrass

Consume one to three teaspoons of this herb for three times in a day. Regularly using wheatgrass juice is beneficial.


Slippery Elm

The herb is effective in thinning the mucus that blocks the airways. Thus breathing becomes easier.


Licorice

Licorice induces the production of cortisone that provides relief from the symptoms of emphysema. Extract of this herb helps in increasing the energy levels and improving the functions of internal organs. Tea prepared from licorice is effective in treating emphysema. Compounds contained in the herb act as antioxidants as well as expectorants. Excessive consumption of this herb can cause side effects like headache, high blood pressure or water retention.


Astragalus

It is a Chinese herb used for medicinal purposes. It helps in healing bronchial tubes and clearing the lungs for easy breath. It has anti-inflammatory properties


Wintergreen

Wintergreen along with eucalyptus essential oil can be used for preparing steam bath that has a soothing effect and is useful for treating emphysema.


Red Pepper

The herb is effective in treating the respiratory problems. It is used in the form of spice that helps in thinning mucous secretions.


Eucalyptus

Cineole contained in eucalyptus works as an expectorant. It can be used as an inhalant and can be rubbed over the chest. Oil form of this herb can be added in the tea that is beneficial for the treatment of emphysema. Prepare herbal tea by mixing the leaves of eucalyptus in water. Consume this tea for multiple times in a day for effective use.


Elecampane

Root of this herb is effective in the treatment of emphysema. Powdered form of this herb in dried form can be used for preparing tea. Consume this tea for three to four times to reduce the symptoms related to emphysema.


Fenugreek

Prepare tea by soaking one teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in one cup of boiling water for ten minutes. Strain and drink for four times in a day.


Coltsfoot

Make an infusion by boiling one teaspoon of coltsfoot in one cup of water. Consume this infusion as two to three times per day for the treatment of emphysema. It can also be consumed in the form of tincture.
