Top 5 Herbs For Blepharitis

Blepharitis is the swelling and reddening of the eyelids. Blepharitis is caused by a bacteria and dandruff in the scalp or due to abnormal functioning of a gland in the eyelids. It can take place in any one and at any age.

Itching and burning sensation, irritation, abnormal growth or loss of eyelashes are some of the symptoms of blepharitis. You can get rid of blepharitis by using some herbs.


5 Herbs For Blepharitis

Calendula

Take some calendula flower petals and boil them in some water (1 cup). After boiling, allow the mixture to cool down. Once it has cooled down, use this mixture as eyewash and wash your eyelids. You can also use it as a hot compress by taking some cotton balls or a cotton cloth, soaking it in the mixture and then placing it on your affected eyelids.

Do this for at least 3-4 times every day as it will help to reduce the inflammation associated with blepharitis and thus will help to get rid of blepharitis.


Chamomile

Take some water and then add some chamomile tea bags to it and heat it well. After that allow it to steep for at least 10-12 minutes. Remove the tea bags and allow them to cool down. Let it be warm but not very hot. Then apply the tea bags one by one on the affected eyelids and let it be like that for 5-10 minutes.

Do this every day for 3-4 times to get good results. The tea prevents swelling and irritation of the eyelids and also helps to get rid of any infections caused due blepharitis.


Tea Tree oil

Tea tree oil is used as a hot compress. Take a warm cotton cloth and put few drops of tea tree oils on it and then place it on your affected eyelids. Let it be like that for 5-10 minutes. Do this for at least 3 times every day.

This hot compress will help to get rid of any discomfort associated with blepharitis and will also help to get rid of the infections. You can also apply tea tree oil directly to your affected eyelids by taking few drops on a cotton ball and then applying it.


Goldenseal

Take a dried herb in a cup of boiling water. Heat it and then allow it to steep well for some time at least 10 minutes. After that strain it properly and let it cool and come down to room temperature. Use this to wash your affected eyelid every day 3-4 times. You can also add some cold water and some leaves of goldenseal to a large basin.

Then dip your face in the basin for 5-10 seconds, move your face out of water completely and after some time do it again. You should do it at least 2 times every day as this herb is very effective in preventing blepharitis.


Mullein

Take some fresh and dried leaves of mullein and boil them well in water. Use a strainer to strain the liquid and then allow it to cool.Use this mixture to wash your eyelid every day 3-4 times or you can also use it as a hot compress by applying it to your eyelid with some cotton balls. This will help you to get rid of inflammation and thus give you a soothing effect.Thus by using the above mentioned herbs you can get rid of blepharitis.
