5 Herbs For Chronic Cough

A cough that lasts for a long time, more than 8 weeks is known as a chronic cough. It is actually a symptom of an underlying illness. Smoking is the main cause of chronic cough. Apart from this, asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia are the other causes of chronic cough.

Having a runny nose, inflammation of the voice box, sore throat, problem in breathing are some of the symptoms associated with chronic cough. Chronic cough is not that common in children. You can prevent chronic cough by using some herbs. 5 herbs for chronic cough are as follows:


Herbs For Chronic Cough

Peppermint

Take some dried peppermint leaves and then grind them well. Then take some of the powder and add it to a cup of water. After that have it. Have at-least 1-2 teaspoons of this solution every day 2-3 times.

You can also add the dried mint leaves to a cup of water and then boil it. After that let it steep for at least 10 minutes, then strain it properly and drink it. Have 2 cups of this herbal tea every day.


Eucalyptus

Take some eucalyptus oil (5-6 drops) and add to a cup of warm water. Then apply this on your chest and massage well. You can also take some eucalyptus oil along with some olive oil or almond oil (to dilute it) on some cotton balls and then apply it directly on your chest and massage gently.

Boil a cup of water, then add 2 drops of eucalyptus oil and mix them well. Then place the cup in front of you, cover your head and the cup with a towel and then inhale the vapour coming from the solution in the cup. Do this 2 times every day.


Mullein

Take some dried leaves of the herb and add it to a cup of water. Heat it well and then let it steep for about 15 minutes. Then strain it and drink it. Sip it when it is hot and before swallowing the tea, gargle and then have it.

You should have this herbal tea at least 2 times every day to get good results within a short time as the herb is very effective in treating chronic coughs.


Licorice

Take some roots of licorice, cut them into small and fine pieces and then add them to a cup of warm water. Heat it and let it steep for at least 20 minutes. After that strain it. Then have this herbal tea 2-3 times every day to get rid of chronic cough within a very short time. You can also crush the roots of the herb to fine powder and have it along with a glass of water every day.


Ginger

Take a ginger root and peel the skin. Then slice the root into small pieces and put the pieces in a cup of water. Then heat and let it steep for some time. After that strain it well and drink it. Have 2-3 cups of this ginger tea every day.

You can also have some raw ginger every day as it will help to get rid of chronic cough within a very short time.

So getting rid of chronic cough is not that difficult and by using the above mentioned herbs you can easily get good results within a very short time.
