5 Herbs For Kidney Stones

Kidney stones, as the name itself justifies, are stones in the kidney. They are tiny mineral stones which can be made of uric acid, calcium, struvite or any other mineral. The stones which would otherwise seem very small are a great deal for your kidneys.

They can be at times large enough to block internal passages. If kidney stones are small, they can be ejected during urination. The procedure requires excess intake of fluids and a proper diet. But larger sizes cause pain and problems. Various herbs are available to deal with kidney stones. Let’s have a look at them.


Herbs For Kidney Stones

Basil

Basil, the little holy plant found in almost every Indian house is considered to be an excellent herb for kidney stones. Basil helps in dissolving kidney stones and showing them a way out of your body.

You can directly chew basil leaves daily. Though it is a bit difficult to manage with its taste. A better option is to take one teaspoon of basil juice mixed with one teaspoon of honey everyday, unfailingly. Follow the procedure for 6 months and you will see the difference!


Hydrangea

Hydrangea is a small flowering plant with useful roots and rhizomes. It is abundant in eastern part of United States where the soil remains a little moist. The roots of the plant can be used to treat kidney stones.

Consumptions of Hydrangea roots results in excessive urination by body. This causes kidney stones to flush out of the body without causing much pain. The treatment works better for smaller stones which can be easily released through urinary tubes.


Goldenrod

Goldenrod is usually found in North America, South America, Mexico and Eurasia. It increases urine production in human body causing a lot of waste removal. This helps in removal of kidney stones along with the urinary content.

Goldenrod is also known for it’s anti-inflammatory properties. It would help in relieving the patient from any inflammation caused by stones in urinary tract.


Joe-Pye Weeds

Joe-Pye weed comes up with beautiful purple flowers and is found in eastern part of North America. It is highly efficient in treating kidney stones and hence, is also called gravel root. The name comes from it’s ability to treat gravels (stones) in kidney.

They work similar to goldenrod, by increasing urine formation in body. Also, gravel root softens kidney stones. As a result, the stones flush out of the body without causing much pain. Since the weed increases urine formation, that means the amount of water left to be absorbed by body is very little.

In order to prevent dehydration issues, it is very important to accompany these herbs with sufficient amount of water.


Dandelion

Dandelion roots work well to get the stones out of your body. Dandelion would reduce the size of kidney stone, so that it can be easily released out of the body.

Also, dandelion leads to the production of excessive urine which helps in easy removal of the stone. The stone would be released via urination and would not cause much pain.
