Molluscum contagiosum is a common disease among children in which the skin gets infected due to virus. Papules or firm bumps appear on the skin that usually get disappeared without any treatment. This viral infection spread to the surrounding areas of the skin if the papules are injured. It can also affect adult other than children.
It is a communicable disease and can be transferred from an unhealthy person to a healthy person. It affects the mucous membrane and is common in the tropical as well as non-tropical regions. This medical condition is characterized by lesions on the skin that are shiny and pearly white in colour.
Batadine is beneficial for the patients of molluscum Contagiosum. This surgical scrub can be scrubbed over the affected parts of the body for about five minutes. Continue using this remedy until the lesions get removed. Those who are allergic to betadine or iodine should not use this remedy.
Ice is useful for the treatment of molluscum Contagiosum. One can use dry ice or liquid nitrogen in its place for the treatment. Application of liquid nitrogen or dry ice on the lesions is recommended.
Continue using this remedy for a period of two to three weeks. Do this until the lesions are removed. This natural method is effective but can sometimes cause hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation.
Sterilized tapes are helpful in the treatment of molluscum Contagiosum. One can use sterilized tapes over the affected areas. Continuously applying the adhesive tapes over the infected area would help in removing the lesions.
This remedy helps in completely removing the superficial epidermis. Do replace these tapes on a regular basis that would be beneficial. Do not use the same strip as it would spread the virus.
Scraping would be helpful for the patients suffering from molluscum Contagiosum. One can scrape off the lesions using sharp instruments. Application of topical anesthetic agents would help in reducing the pain associated with molluscum Contagiosum. One can then squeeze out the lesions using sharp sticks and forceps.
Sea salt is useful for the treatment of molluscum Contagiosum. It can be used in the form of scrub. Take two cups of sea salt and mix one fourth cup of grape seed oil, two drops of tea tree oil, half cup of olive oil and one tablespoon of honey in it. Store this solution in a glass jar for months.
Massaging the scrub gently over the affected area on a daily basis is recommended. Leave as such for a minute and then rinse with clean water. Dry the affected skin using a towel. This remedy helps in treating molluscum contagiosum well.
Creams are effective in the treatment of molluscum contagiosum. These creams contain chemicals like tretinoin, salicylic acid etc. which are useful in removing the bumps. These creams help in strengthening the immune system.
These can be applied directly over the infected area. One should carefully use them as they may be harmful while using. It is better to consult the doctor to avoid side effects.
