These allergies can affect the nose as well as cause swelling of nasal membranes. Other than this, blockage of hollow spaces in the bones surrounding the nose may also occur. Home remedies can be used for the treatment of allergies and sinus. These natural remedies do not cause harmful side effects and are also effective at the same time.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids

Omega 3 fatty acids are beneficial in the treatment of allergies and sinus. It has been found that people who eat foods rich in omega 3 fatty acids are less likely to suffer from the symptoms associated with allergies and sinus.

This home remedy helps in fighting against inflammation associated with allergies. Sources of omega 3 fatty acids include flaxseed oil, eggs, meat, cold-water fish, walnuts etc.

Butterbur & Humidifier

Butterbur is beneficial in treating allergies and sinus. Consumption of thirty two milligrams of butterbur divided into four doses on a daily basis has been found to be helpful for the patients in a research study.

Keeping a humidifier in the room would provide moisture to the air and thus help in treating allergies and sinus. Vaporizer is also a good option other than humidifier. It helps in eliminating the dust which is the cause of allergies.

Quercetin

Quercetin is useful for the patients suffering from allergies and sinus. It is a naturally derived plant product that helps in stabilizing the mast cells. It is an antioxidant which helps in fighting against the free radicals that are responsible for causing diseases.

It can be taken in the form of supplements. Consumption of one thousand milligrams of quercetin supplement is recommended on a daily basis. Continue using this remedy by taking these supplements between the meals. Patients suffering from liver disease should avoid using this remedy.

Stinging Nettle

Stinging nettle is useful for the patients suffering from allergies and sinus. Consumption of three thousand milligrams of stinging nettle on a daily basis is recommended. The herb has the ability to produce histamine. It is also available in the form of capsule and tincture. This home remedy would help in fighting against inflammation associated with allergies and sinus.

Water

Water is helpful for the treatment of allergies and sinus. Consumption of large amount of water on a daily basis is recommended. Salt added to water can be used for rinsing the nasals. To prepare this nasal solution, take sixteen ounces of lukewarm and distilled water and add one teaspoon of salt in it. Half teaspoon of baking soda can also be added in this solution.

Flushing the nasal cavities using bulb syringe would help in eliminating the debris and mucus out of the nose. Another such remedy for irrigation nasal is to use neti-pots. Take lukewarm distilled water and add one teaspoon of salt to prepare the solution. Tilt head and pour this nasal solution in one nostril gently. Cleaning the neti-pot on a regular basis is required.
