9 Remedies for Pink Eye

Pink eye is the swelling of the membrane lining of the eyelids. This inflammation is also called as conjunctivitis that can happen due to bacterial or viral attack on the eyes. This is a very painful and horrible condition as it may spread to others as well.

During pink eye, it is advised to stay at home and take a rest until it is over. Here are some home remedies that will help reduce pain and also reduce the time of pink eye. You can rely on these effective home remedies to keep pink eye away from you.

Effective Home Remedies for Pink Eye

Vaseline

Vaseline jelly is very helpful for a pink eye person. Apply some Vaseline on your membrane lining of eyelids. This will make tears come out and will clean up the bacterial infection.

Remember that your hands should be clean before and after applying Vaseline. If your one eye is infected, then do not touch your second eye as it can affect your eye.

Garlic

Garlic has anti-bacterial property and it is used to fight against many bacterial diseases. Take one garlic clove and take out juice from it. Slowly rub this juice on your lower membrane of eyelid with an ear-bud. This will burn a lot, but after few seconds you will feel good. Apply this three times a day and your pink eye will go in just two days.

Cold Compress

Pink eye can also lead to hot flashes in your eyes that can also cause itching. Rubbing your eyes will worsen the condition. Cold compress will help a lot and provide relief from itching. Dip tea bags in cold water for some time and keep them on your eyelids for about 10 minutes. Repeat it 5-6 times a day. Used tea bags will also work equally.

Jasmine Flower

Eye wash made with jasmine flowers will soothe a lot in pink eye. Take a jar of water and add about 10 jasmine flower in it. Make it boil for about five minutes and let it cool after that. Use this water as an eye wash and do it maximum times as you can in a day. This is very good and soothing for pink eyes and will help in recovery very fast.

Milk and Honey

Honey has the anti-bacterial property and milk helps in reducing the inflammation. Take some warm milk and a spoon of honey in it. Mix them well and use this mixture as an eye-drop. Use a sterilized dropper and put two drops in each eye. This will provide instant relief from burning eyes and provide relief from redness and swelling. Remember not to touch the dropper with hands. You have to maintain hygiene so that infection will not spread.

Vinegar

White vinegar can make a good eye wash solution. Take a glass of distilled water and add one spoon of white vinegar in it. Wash your eyes with this water after every two hours. This will help provide relief from puffy and red eyes and also reduce itching. You can add half spoon of salt in this water.
