Milk Baths


Bathing with milk is a very efficacious natural cure for angioedema. This is because milk soothes the swelling and relieves the pain, as it contains certain enzymes which are anti-inflammatory and pain relieving.  You can use either cow’s milk or goat’s milk for bathing. You can add the milk to your bath water.

You can also soak your skin in a bath tub containing milk and water.  Make sure you rinse off the milk with a cold shower afterwards. Milk is able to cool the skin and release excessive heat from the body. Make sure you do not use any soap or chemicals while taking the milk bath.


Oatmeal Paste


Boil Oatmeal and make let it cool after this. Then, you should mash the Oatmeal into a fine paste and apply this over your skin. Allow the paste to harden. The paste will produce a cooling sensation on the skin and remove excess heat and allergens from the body. This will also soothe the inflammation.

You can also add uncooked Oatmeal known as colloidal Oatmeal to your bath water and take a soothing bath to bring down the swelling caused during angioedema. Oatmeal will also relieve the itching and ensure that the person is able to regain an inflammation free state.


Avoiding Allergens


You should also eliminate any foods, food additives or chemical irritants that may be causing the angioedema. Some of the common foods that people are often allergic to include berries, chocolate, eggs, legumes, nuts and seafood. People may also be allergic to substances like tartrazine. Some people are also unable to eat citrus foods.

Angioedema can be an allergic reaction to toxins as well. So, if you experience the symptoms of this condition, you need to monitor yourself carefully to ascertain what the allergens are and avoid them in order to prevent this problem from afflicting you. Of course, this natural cure is only effective in cases where angioedema has been caused by an allergic reaction.


Pineapple


If you have angioedema, make sure you eat Pineapple or take Pineapple juice. Pineapple contains an enzyme called Bromelain which reduces inflammation. You should coat the Pineapple slices with some Turmeric as this can enhance the curative powers of Bromelain.

You can even add some Turmeric powder to Pineapple juice and drink this to avert angioedema from intensifying. Pineapple can also be added to dishes or salads and consumed to avail the benefits of this natural cure for angioedema. Avoid this natural cure if you are on blood thinning medication.


Hydrotherapy


Hydrotherapy is the method of therapy where contrasting cooling and heating are used to soothe the skin and bring down inflammations. You can try full body immersions, sitz baths or hip baths, steam and sauna or even hot and cold compresses as part of hydrotherapy to treat angioedema.  Make sure you consult your doctor before trying hydrotherapy.

You can take contrasting sitz baths in hot and cold water to bring down the inflammation and soothe the inner layers of the skin as well. Hydrotherapy can work well for you but you should also consult a physician before embarking on this natural cure.


Goldenseal


Hydrastis Canadensis is the botanical name by which this herb is also referred to. It is generally used for indigestion and stomach problems that result from an allergy. Goldenseal is also helpful in reducing the swelling caused due to angioedema. Goldenseal can be taken in the form of extract, supplement or tincture for good results.

Besides being a digestive tonic, Goldenseal is a herb which has astringent and anti-inflammatory properties. It is also a natural antiseptic. Goldenseal has been found to be excellent for treating the symptoms of angioedema such as swelling, itchiness and pain.


Licorice


Known botanically as Glycyrrhiza Glabra, Licorice is not only anti-inflammatory but it also boosts immune system functioning. Licorice is known as a cure for conditions such as hives and angioedema. It is an effective cure for reducing the inflammations caused due to allergic reactions. You should avoid using this herbal remedy if you have diabetes, kidney diseases or blood pressure problems.

The most beneficial part of this herb is its root. Licorice root can be boiled and steeped in water overnight. You can then dip a compress in the water the next morning and apply the Licorice root infused water over your body to get relief from angioedema.


Chamomile


Chamomile is a nervine herb and a natural sedative. But it is also good for treating inflammations and swellings. Chamomile soothes the skin because of which it is also part of innumerable skin and cosmetic products. You can steep the leaves of this herb in hot water for 2 to 3 hours and then apply the mixture all over your body to combat angioedema.

You can also soak the leaves in a jar full of either olive oil or almond oil and leave this sealed for 2 to 3 days.Then, remove the lid and using a cotton swab, apply the Chamomile infused oil all over your body. You can also take a body massage using this oil.

Chamomile tea can also be taken to ward off angioedema. Chamomile is known by its botanical name Matricaria Recutita and it is of two varieties namely German Chamomile and Roman Chamomile. German Chamomile is more potent and should be used to treat angioedema. Make sure you do not take this herbal remedy if you are allergic to Rag Weed, pregnant or nursing.
